Sheriff Darren Campbell stated: On Thursday, July 30, 2020, Iredell County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Detectives, and deputies assigned to the Aggressive Criminal Enforcement (ACE) Team were conducting an investigation at the Motel 7 on Greenland Drive in Statesville after receiving complaints of narcotic sales going on in one of the rooms.
Deputies spoke to the occupant of the room Akira Linney, of Statesville, and noticed evidence of controlled substances inside the room. The deputies searched the room and located several individual bags of marijuana packaged to sale along with drug paraphernalia commonly seen with narcotics sales and distribution they also found Linney to be in possession of a firearm that was reported from Statesville.
Linney was arrested and transported to the Iredell County Detention Center where he was charged with; Felony Possession of a Stolen Firearm, Felony Possession with Intent to Sale or Deliver Marijuana, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Linney was taken before Magistrate Chambers where he received a 10,000 dollar secured bond on these charges.
