Sheriff Darren Campbell stated: On Sunday, July 19, 2020, Iredell County Sheriff’s Office Patrol Deputies responded to the area of Eufola Road, in western Iredell County, after receiving several calls about hearing gun shots, and a residence having being shot into.
When the responding deputies arrived, they received information about the people who were responsible for the shooting were in a black Ford F-150 truck. The truck left the area after the shooting.
Deputies went to the residence which had been shot. They spoke with the victim who told them the house had been struck by gunfire, there were two children under the ages of 14 inside the home, and no one was injured. While investigating the incident deputies learned, a second residence was hit by a gunfire during the incident.
Criminal Detectives and Crime Scene Investigators arrived on scene and started to interview witnesses and collect evidence.
During the investigation, information was gathered indicating there had been two separate shootings. The first shooting actually started due to a civil dispute. Christian Furman was riding a motorcycle on the roadway earlier in the evening, which cause an argument between Furman and John Wesley Harding, resulting in Harding firing shots at Furman while on the motorcycle.
Furman left the area then came back a short time later with Brandi Bowman driving a vehicle with the intent to retaliate against Harding. When Furman and Bowman rode by Harding’s residence, he was waiting in his vehicle.
Harding then fired a shot at Furman at which time Furman return gunfire. Harding then chased the vehicle Furman and Bowman were in. Both parties exchanged gunfire, hitting the vehicle several times. During the exchange of gunfire, Bowman also had her 14-year-old child in the vehicle.
On Wednesday, July 22, 2020, John Wesley Harding, was arrested and charged with: Felony Possession of a Firearm by Felon, Felony Shooting into an Occupied Vehicle, and Three Counts of Felony Assault with a Deadly Weapon with Intent to Kill. Harding received a 200,000.00 dollar secured bond by Magistrate P. Tutterrow.
Christian Shane Kyle Furman was also arrested on Wednesday, July 22, 2020 and charged with: Two Counts of Felony Shooting into an Occupied Dwelling, and Felony Conspiracy to Shoot into an Occupied Dwelling. Furman received a 200,000.00 dollars secured bond by Magistrate D. Sanders.
Brandi Marie Bowman was arrested on Thursday, July 23, 2020 and charged with: Two Counts of Felony Shooting into an Occupied Dwelling, and Felony Conspiracy to Shoot into an Occupied Dwelling. Bowman received a 200,000.00 dollar secured bond by Magistrate M. Nethken.
Sheriff Campbell added, “As you can see by the criminal histories of some involved in these incidents, we need to target and actively go after career criminals. Some people do not fear committing crimes when they do not respect the criminal justice system. We will make sure we do all in our power to enforce the law in Iredell County, and will continuously advocate for the strongest penalties for the worst criminals when they are found guilty. Our communities want to be safe and secure. We will do our best to make sure they are”.
