Sheriff Darren Campbell stated on August 8th 2015 at approximately 1:15 am Deputy L.J. Hayes stopped a silver Honda Accord that was occupied by three white males for a traffic violation on Garner Bagnal Blvd. near Interstate 77. Deputy Hayes learned that the driver of the vehicle, Mr. Andrew Stuart, was wanted on a warrant for failure to appear in court on a larceny charge.
Deputy Hayes and Sgt. W.E. Line got Mr. Stuart out of the vehicle and when they questioned him about the possibility of there being illegal narcotics in the vehicle Mr. Stuart admitted to having some drug paraphernalia. Deputies conducted a search of the vehicle and found a safe in the trunk of the vehicle. Deputies searched the safe and located Methamphetamine, Marijuana, and various items of drug paraphernalia.
Mr. Stuart admitted that some of the methamphetamine and marijuana was his. One of the passengers in the vehicle, Mr. Nathan Delay, admitted that he had methamphetamine in the safe as well. The other passenger in the vehicle, Mr. Samuel Delay, admitted that he had marijuana and paraphernalia in the safe. Mr. Samuel Delay was issued a citation for Possession of Less than ½ Ounce of Marijuana and Possession of Marijuana Drug Paraphernalia and released. Mr. Stuart and Mr. Nathan Delay were arrested by Deputy Hayes and transported to the Magistrates Office. Mr. Stuart was charged with Possession of Methamphetamine, Felony Maintaining a Vehicle/Dwelling/Place for a Controlled Substance, Possession of Less than ½ Ounce of Marijuana, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia not Used for Marijuana, Possession of Marijuana Drug Paraphernalia, and was served his outstanding warrant. Mr. Stuart was taken before the Magistrate where he received a $3,000 secured bond and has first appearance in court on August 10th, 2015. Mr. Nathan Delay was charged with Possession of Methamphetamine and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia not used for Marijuana. Mr. Nathan Delay received a $2,000 secured bond and also has his first appearance in court on August 10th, 2015.
