[ARCHIVED] Two men charged with felony drug charges after traffic stop in Statesville.

Sheriff Darren Campbell stated: On Thursday, July 16, 2020, Sergeant L. Hayes who is assigned to the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office Aggressive Criminal Enforcement (ACE) Team stopped a Nissan Maxima on Wilkesboro Highway at Interstate 40 for a traffic violation.

While speaking to the driver of the vehicle, Jonathan Sorrels, deputies found him to be in possession of “Black Tar” Heroin, and a firearm. The deputies then searched the vehicle and the passenger, Brandon Ingle, and found an additional seven grams of “Black Tar” Heroin, multiple plastic baggies, and digital scales, which are used with the sale and distribution of illegal narcotics.

Both Ingle and Sorrels were arrested on scene. They were taken to the Iredell County Detention Center where Ingle was charged with Felony Trafficking Heroin by Possession, Felony Trafficking Heroin by Transport, Felony Possession with Intent to Sell or Deliver Heroin, and Misdemeanor Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Magistrate P. Tutterrow issued a 207,500.00 secured bond on his charges. Sorrels was charged with Felony Possession with Intent to Sell or Deliver Heroin, Felony Maintain a Vehicle for the Sale of a Controlled Substance, and Misdemeanor Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Magistrate P. Tutterrow issued a 7,500.00 secured bond on these charges.

Criminal history: Six Counts of Driving While License Revoked, Reckless Driving to Endanger, Misdemeanor Larceny, Felony Conspire to Break or Enter, Felony Breaking or Entering, Misdemeanor Interfere with a Utility Meter, Two Counts of Felony Possession of Methamphetamine, Felony Possession a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, Felony Assault on a Law Enforcement Officer, Misdemeanor Interfere with an Alcohol Screening Device, Misdemeanor Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle, Two Counts of Misdemeanor Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Misdemeanor Resisting a Public Officer.
