Recently the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office completed, and published our 2019 Annual Report. In this report, we provide Crime Statistics, and an overview of many of our divisions and programs.
According to the 2018 Uniformed Crime Report (UCR), over the last five years, the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office Crime Rates have declined in each category. The Crime Rate is defined as, the number of offenses per 100,000 people in the population of the jurisdiction of the agency.
The overall Index Crime Rate, which includes the numbers of Murder, Rape, Robbery, Aggravated Assault, Burglary, Larceny and Larceny of Motor Vehicle, decreased 29% between 2014 and 2018.
The Index Crime Rate as mentioned above is broken down even further into subcategories. The Violent Crime Rate (Murder, Rape, Robbery, and Aggravated Assault) dropped by 5.4%, and the Property Crime Rate (Burglary, Larceny and Motor Vehicle Larceny) dropped by an astonishing 32%.
The Iredell County Sheriff’s Office has some of the highest case clearance rates in our area. Over the last 11 years, the Index Crime Rate has dropped by 50%. This means half, as many people are victims of index crimes in 2018 compared to 2008.

There is no law or statute, which mandates us to publish this Annual Report. However, Sheriff Campbell feels very strongly the citizens of Iredell County should know what their sheriff’s office is doing, and this is the reason we issue this report.
