Iredell County Sheriff Darren Campbell is pleased to announce several personnel changes, and promotions, which have recently taken place, as the result of retirements and other internal Iredell County Sheriff’s Office personnel changes.
Road Patrol Captain Joel Hepler was promoted to the rank of Major. Major Hepler has worked at the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office for 19 years. He directly supervises all of the uniformed divisions of the sheriff’s office.
Criminal Investigations Captain Errin Jenkins was promoted to the rank of Major. Major Jenkins has worked at the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office for 17 years. He will oversee the Criminal Investigations Division, and Special Investigations Unit. He will also supervise the Evidence Control Section as well as the Crime Laboratory.
Special Victims Unit Lieutenant Brian Boyd was promoted to the rank of Captain. Captain Boyd has worked for the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office for 20 years. He will now directly supervise all of the Road Patrol Squads.
Criminal Investigations Lieutenant Julie Wyatt was promoted to the rank of Captain. Captain Wyatt has worked for the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office for 24 years. She will supervise all of the investigators in the Criminal Investigations Division.
Special Victims Unit Sergeant Amy Dyson was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant. Lieutenant Dyson has worked at the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office for 11 years. She will supervise all of the investigators in the Special Victims Unit.
Criminal Investigations Detective Sergeant Wesley Gregory was promoted to Lieutenant. Lieutenant Gregory has worked at the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office for 10 years. He will supervise detectives in the Criminal Investigations Division.
Criminal Investigations Detective Adam Blackburn was promoted to Sergeant. Sergeant Blackburn has worked at the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office for 11 years. He will assist in supervising detectives in the Criminal Investigations Division.
Sergeant Mike Benfield was transferred from the Road Patrol Division where he served as a supervisor, to take the Sergeant position in the Special Victims Unit. The Special Victims Unit investigates, sexual assaults, elder abuse, missing persons, and economic crimes. Sergeant Benfield has worked at the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office for 14 years.
