[ARCHIVED] Troutman man charged with Felony and Misdemeanor Crimes.

Sheriff Darren Campbell stated: On Tuesday, May 12, 2020, Iredell County Sheriff’s Office Deputies received a report about scrap metal having been stolen at 844 Blackwelder Road.

While responding to the location, Emergency Communications provided additional information, stating the suspect was Joshua Ray Burchette, and he was driving a burgundy truck.

While the deputies were speaking with the victim and filling out the incident report, another call was received by the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office from a local scrap yard saying two suspects in a burgundy truck were attempting to sell the scrap metal. The caller said both subjects seemed to be in a hurry and were arguing with each other.

Deputies and detectives arrived at the local business and detained the two men while additional information was gathered. The victim from Blackwelder Road was escorted to the scrap yard to try, and identify the items to determine if they were stolen from his residence. When the victim arrived, he was able to positively identify several of his items. The recovered stolen property was valued at over 100.00 dollars. The stolen items were returned to the victim.

Joshua Ray Burchette was taken into custody and transported to the Iredell County Detention Center where he was charged with; Misdemeanor First Degree Trespass, Misdemeanor Larceny, and Felony Attempt to Obtain Property by False Pretense. Joshua Burchette appeared before Magistrate P. Tutterrow who issued a 3,000.00 dollar secured bond on these charges.
