Sheriff Darren Campbell stated: On, Thursday, April 2, 2020 Deputy C. Little with the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office Aggressive Criminal Enforcement (ACE) Team conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle on Turnersburg Highway at Country View Road for a traffic violation.
Deputy Little approached the vehicle and asked the driver, Derryck Duane Turner, please step out of the vehicle. While Deputy Little was checking Turner’s Driver’s License status, Deputy Little became convinced there may possibly be illegal drugs in the vehicle.
Deputy M. Hicks, Canine “Bosco” arrived to assist Deputy Little. Canine “Bosco” alerted on the vehicle for the odor of an illegal narcotic. Deputies then searched the vehicle and all of the occupants.
During the search, deputies located 9.2 ounces of marijuana, two handguns and multiple items of drug paraphernalia.
Derryck Turner was arrested on scene. He was then transported to the Iredell County Detention Center where he was charged with: Felony Possession with Intent to Sale or Deliver Marijuana, Felony Possession of Marijuana, Felony Maintain a Vehicle for the Sale or Use of Controlled Substance, Misdemeanor Possession of Marijuana Paraphernalia, and Misdemeanor Carrying a Concealed Weapon.
Turner appeared before Magistrate T. Thompson who issued a 15,000.00 dollar secured bond for these charges.

Criminal history: Two Counts of Misdemeanor Resisting a Public Officer, One Count of Misdemeanor Disorderly Conduct, One Count of Misdemeanor Driving While Impaired, One Count of Misdemeanor Assault on a Female, One Count of Misdemeanor Simple Possession of Schedule VI Marijuana, Two Counts of Misdemeanor Drug Paraphernalia and traffic violations. Turner currently has nine charges pending against him at this time, Felony Possession With Intent to Sale and Deliver Marijuana, Four Misdemeanor Counts of Simple Possession of Schedule VI Marijuana, Two Misdemeanor Counts of Marijuana Paraphernalia, One Misdemeanor Count of Driving While License Revoked, and One Count of Misdemeanor Carrying a Concealed Weapon.
