[ARCHIVED] Traffic stop leads to $174,000 worth of drugs taken off of the streets.

Sheriff Darren E, Campbell stated: In June of 2014, members of the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office Interstate Criminal Enforcement (ICE) Team stopped a vehicle operated by Orlando F. Brown of Aliquippa Pennsylvania. A search of the vehicle resulted in 4.4 pounds of cocaine being located and seized. Brown was arrested for a variety of charges.
An investigation was opened by the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Unit who has a deputy assigned to the United States Department of Homeland Security (HSI) Drug Task Force in Charlotte.
The task force, over 14 months was able to take information gained from the traffic stop and related information gathered through the investigation and seize 174,000.00 dollars in narcotics related trafficking cases. The original investigation led to additional investigations and arrests of suspects along the East Coast.
“This is an example of the criminals which travels our interstates everyday here in Iredell County. Having deputies and investigators trained in detecting these criminals and their activity is crucial. Also reaching out to other local, state and federal law enforcement agencies is an example of using force multipliers to make Iredell County safer.”
