Sheriff Darren Campbell stated: On Thursday, March 19, 2020 investigators with the Iredell County Sheriff’s Narcotics Investigations and deputies with the Interstate Criminal Enforcement (ICE) Team executed a narcotics search warrant at 1149 King Street in Statesville, and arrested Christopher Dwayne Smith.
Narcotics investigators had received information about Smith selling controlled substances from his residence. Based on this information investigators established a surveillance operation to verify the information.
During the investigation, undercover investigators were able to purchase “Crack” cocaine directly from Smith on more than one occasion while he was at the residence.
Upon the execution of the search warrant, investigators and deputies located approximately 50 dosage units of “Ecstasy”, “Crack” cocaine and a firearm. Christopher Dwayne Smith who was at the residence when the warrant was served, was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Iredell County Detention Center.
Smith was charged with; Felony Possession with Intent to Sell or Distribute Schedule I Controlled Substance, Felony Possession with Intent to Sell or Distribute Schedule II Controlled Substance, Felony Maintaining a Dwelling for the Sell or Distribution of Controlled Substance, and Felony Possession of a Firearm by Felon. Smith appeared before Magistrate R. Imes who issued him a 25,000.00 dollars secured bond.
