Sheriff Darren Campbell stated: On Friday, February 28, 2020 Iredell County Sheriff’s Office Deputies conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle on Salisbury Highway at Bethesda Road for an equipment violation.

After approaching the vehicle, the deputies identified the driver as Michael Anthony Brown, and his passenger, Marissa Kaye Cook both of Salisbury.

Sergeant L. Hayes, and his K-9 “Danny” arrived to assist with the traffic stop. They conducted a walk around search of the exterior of the vehicle. K-9, “Danny,” alerted on the vehicle for the presence of an illegal narcotic.

Deputies then searched the vehicle, along with Brown, and Cook. The search located “Crack” Cocaine, Heroin, Marijuana, Methamphetamine, 874.00 dollars in US Currency, and numerous items of drug paraphernalia. 

Brown, and Cook were then arrested and transported to the Iredell County Detention Center. Each suspect was charged with: Felony Possession with Intent to Sale or Deliver Methamphetamine, Felony Possession with Intent to Sale or Deliver Heroin, Felony Possession with Intent to Sale or Deliver Marijuana, Felony Possession of Crack Cocaine, Felony Maintain a Vehicle for the Sale/Use of Controlled Substance, Misdemeanor Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Misdemeanor Possession of Marijuana Drug Paraphernalia.

Both suspects appeared before Magistrate J. Hollar who issued each suspect a 25,000.00 dollar secured bond on these charges.

Marrisa Kaye Cook, 28 Years Old

25,000.00 DOLLARS SECURED BOND

Criminal history: One Felony Count Possession of Heroin, One Felony Count of Possession Schedule II, One Count of Felony Obtaining Property by False Pretense, One Count of Misdemeanor Larceny, One Count of Misdemeanor Breaking or Entering, One Count of Misdemeanor Resisting a public officer, Two Counts of Misdemeanor Counts of Simple Assault, and One Count of Misdemeanor Drug Paraphernalia.

Cook is currently on active probation.
