Sheriff Darren Campbell stated that on July 29, 2015 at approximately 01:04 am. the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office Received a report from a homeowner stated that she was awaken by her dog and found a man knelt down beside of bed. The home owner chased the subject out of the back door, the suspect ran through the yard and into the woods.
Deputies arrived on scene a short time later and determined the suspect had entered the residence and taken the homeowners car keys, went outside and went through her car. The suspect then went back into the residence and went into several rooms before he went into the homeowner’s bedroom.
Detectives were assigned the case and began the investigation. During the investigation Detectives attempted to locate potential witnesses and looked at other cases for possible similarities. Detectives discovered that Jonathan Curlee had recently been charged with a similar crime. After further investigating the case and based on the totality of all the evidence Detectives drew warrants on Curlee for 1st degree Burglary and Breaking and Entering.
On July 30th, 2015 Curlee was located and arrested. An interview was conducted and additional evidence collected. Curlee was taken before the Magistrate and received a $35,000.00 bond, and is currently in the Iredell County Detention Center awaiting trial.
