[ARCHIVED] Two Yadkin County men charged with felony crimes in Iredell County.

Sheriff Darren Campbell stated: On Thursday January 23, 2020, Iredell County Sheriff’s Office deputies, and detectives responded to the area of North Meadow Road off of East Houstonville Road in Northern Iredell County in reference to breaking and entering.

When the deputies arrived at the location, tire tracks were located showing where the suspects had driven around a gated drive which led to several barns on the property. One of the barns contained an antique vehicle which showed signed of being tampered with.

Detective Danny Wyatt was assigned to follow up on the incident. Based on evidence and information which was gathered through witness interviews during the investigation, two suspects were identified Cody Grant Groce of Yadkinville, and Bobby Wayne Potts Jr. of Hamptonville.

Detective Wyatt received felony arrest warrants for both suspects. Cody Grant Groce, currently being confined in the Yadkin County Jail for a Parole Violation. He was served with the Iredell County warrants for Felony Breaking and Entering, Felony Breaking and Entering to a Motor Vehicle, Misdemeanor First degree trespassing and received a 3,000.00 secured bond from a magistrate in Yadkin County.

Bobby Wayne Potts Jr., was arrested on Monday, January 27, 2020 at his residence in Yadkin County by deputies of the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office. He was transported to the Iredell County Detention Center and was brought before Magistrate P. Tutterrow who issued Potts a 2500.00 dollar secured bond on these charges.

Criminal history: Misdemeanor Possession of Marijuana, Misdemeanor Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Misdemeanor Defrauding a Drug or Alcohol Screening Test, Misdemeanor Larceny, Misdemeanor Injury to Personal Property, Two Counts of Misdemeanor Assault on a Female, DWI Level 1, Misdemeanor Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle, Two Counts of Felony Possession of Methamphetamine, Felony Attempted Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, Felony Possession with Intent to Sell or Deliver Methamphetamine, and several driving related charges.
