Sheriff Darren Campbell stated: From July 2017 through October 2018, Iredell County Sheriff’s Office deputies and detectives have worked numerous cases involving the residence, and individuals being at 139 Millet Drive in Stony Point.

The investigations ranged from narcotics possession, assaults, shots fired, an armed robbery where shots were also fired, and various wanted persons have been located with outstanding warrants at this location.

Iredell County Sheriff’s Office detectives began speaking with neighbors in the area and documenting various incidents while collecting investigation records, call logs along with any other evidence they could locate relating to this location. During the investigation detectives requested assistance from North Carolina Alcohol Law Enforcement (ALE) due to their specialization in Nuisance Abatement Cases. 

After all of the evidence was gathered, members from each agency presented the findings to the District Attorney’s Office to begin the legal process.

The owner of the property, Timothy Duane McGriff was requested to attend a meeting to discuss this matter and present options to solve all complaints. McGriff attended this meeting and was later served with a Civil Process to be in Civil Superior Court on July 1, 2019.   

On September 12, 2019, McGriff signed a consent order requiring him to sell the property located at 139 Millet Drive Stony Point. The court ordered the home had to be sold at fair market value, and provided McGriff with a detailed description of how the proceeds for the sale would be handled. The home was closed on January 13, 2020.

This legal process is lengthy and is not undertaken lightly. This action was taken based on continued criminal activity at this home and numerous complaints from the citizens in the area.  This is just another tool the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office utilizes to eliminate criminal locations in our neighborhoods, and attempts to keep our communities safe.
