[ARCHIVED] Convicted felon receives additional drug charges stemming from traffic stop in Statesville.

Sheriff Darren Campbell stated: On Saturday, January 4,2020 Iredell County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Detectives witnessed a hand to hand drug transaction on Deaton Street in Statesville.  

Sgt. L. Hayes, and Deputy C. Little with the Aggressive Criminal Enforcement (ACE) Team conducted a traffic stop on the suspect’s vehicle in the 1100 block of West Front Street.

The driver of the vehicle, Jeffrey Todd Turner Sr., immediately fled on foot away from the deputies. After a brief foot chase, Turner was detained. Deputies searched Turner and his vehicle. They located multiple bags of “Crack” cocaine packaged in such a way as to lead them to believe they were for sale, 20 Lorazepam pills along with various items of drug paraphernalia.

After arresting Turner, the deputies determined Turner’s Driver’s License was revoked, and he had multiple Orders for Arrest for Failure to Appear in Court.

Jeffrey Todd Turner Sr., was transported to the Iredell County Detention Center where he was charged with; Felony Possession with Intent to Sale/Deliver Cocaine, Felony Possession with Intent to Sale/Deliver Schedule IV (Lorazepam), Felony Maintain a Vehicle for the Sale of a Controlled Substance, Misdemeanor Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Misdemeanor Resisting a Public Officer, and Driving While License Revoked. He was also served with his outstanding arrest warrants.

Turner went before Magistrate T. Thompson who issued Turner a 52,000.00 dollars secured bond on these charges.

Criminal history: Misdemeanor Shoplifting by Concealment, Four Felony Counts Sell or Deliver Cocaine, Four Felony Counts of Possession with Intent to Sell or Deliver Cocaine, Five Counts of Misdemeanor Resisting a Public Officer, Felony Maintain a Vehicle for the Sale of a Controlled Substance, Two Counts of Felony Flee to Elude Arrest, Felony Conspire to Possess Cocaine, DWI Level 3, Felony Breaking and Entering, and Seven Counts of Driving While License Revoked.
