Sheriff Darren Campbell stated: On July 22, 2015, Deputy David Price of the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office Special Victim’s Unit attempted to verify a valid address on Johnnie Branton, a registered sex offender.
Deputy Price had made multiple attempts to locate Branton at this address and was unable to verify that Branton was living at his registered address. After further investigation, Deputy Price determined that Branton had moved to another address and had not changed his address with the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office as required.
Registered sex offenders have three business days to register a change of address with the Sheriff’s Office. Deputy Price charged Branton with Felony Failing to Notify Change of Address.
This is the third time within the past six months that Branton has been charged with this offense. He also has been charged with Improper Online Identifier on a Social Media Website. He has made bond on the previous charges. Branton was given a $50,000.00 bond on the new charge and is currently in the Iredell County Detention Center.
