Sheriff Darren Campbell stated: On Wednesday, November 6, 2019 deputies with the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office Interstate Criminal Enforcement (ICE) Unit conducted a traffic stop on a Georgia plated 2015 Chevrolet Impala for a traffic violation.

Deputies approached the car and, made contact with the driver of the vehicle, Steven Allen Hugh Lowe. Lowe stated he was travelling from Windsor, Connecticut to his home in Atlanta, Georgia.

As Deputy M. Hicks was speaking with Lowe he became nervous, and there were inconsistencies in his answers to questions from the deputies. The deputies then asked Lowe for consent to search his vehicle. Lowe consented to a search and the search was conducted.

Upon searching the vehicle deputies located five plastic containers in the glove box of the vehicle which contained a large amounts of MDMA (Ecstasy) tablets. Deputies also located digital scales along with plastic bags which are consistent with bags used to package illegal drugs for sale.

Lowe was immediately arrested and taken to the Iredell County Detention Center where he was charged with: Felony Trafficking MDMA by Transportation, Felony Trafficking MDMA by Possession, Felony Possession with Intent to Sell or Deliver MDMA, Felony Maintain a Dwelling or Vehicle for the Sale of a Controlled Substance, and Misdemeanor Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Magistrate S. Watkins issued Lowe a 500,000.00 dollar secured bond on these charges.

A total of 485 tablets were recovered having a weight of approximately 180 grams.
