[ARCHIVED] Statesville man charged with Felony Breaking and Entering, and Assault.

Sheriff Darren Campbell stated: On Sunday, October 6, 2019 a report was filed with the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office in reference to a sexual assault involving a 13 year old child.

The case was assigned to Detective Sergeant K. Harwell of the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office Special Victims Unit for further investigation.

The victim in this case was interviewed at the Dove House Children’s Advocacy Center.  After gathering additional information, Detective Harwell conducted numerous interviews, and gathered additional evidence in this case.

Upon completion of the investigation, Detective Harwell obtained arrest warrants on Matthew Aron Jones for Felony Breaking and Entering, and Misdemeanor Assault on a Female by a Male over 18.

Matthew Jones was arrested on Tuesday, October 15, 2019. He was arrested, and taken to the Iredell County Detention Center. Jones was served the warrants. Magistrate S. Watkins issued a 20,000.00 dollars secured bond on the charges.

In August of 2019, a report was filed where Jones was located inside the same residence this most recent incident occurred. Jones was arrested, and charged with Misdemeanor Breaking and Entering at the time. He went to trial, and was found guilty of the charges on Monday, October 7 2019. The felony charges are still pending.
