Sheriff Darren Campbell stated: On Sunday, September 14, 2019 Patrol Deputies with the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office were conducting a license checkpoint at the intersection of Bethesda Road, and Meadows Court.
At 10:02 am, Deputy J. Graves came in contact with Federico Santibanez who was operating a vehicle which came through the checkpoint. When Deputy J. Graves asked Federico Santibanez for his driver’s license. Santibanez told Deputy Graves he did not have one. Santibanez was then asked to pull his vehicle to the side of the road.
After further questioning Santibanez, a consent search was conducted on his vehicle. There was another passenger in the vehicle, Damian Santibanez. While asking the passenger to exit the vehicle, Deputies noticed a strong odor of marijuana come from inside the vehicle near the passenger side.
The search of the vehicle located nine grams of crystal methamphetamine, twenty grams of Marijuana, marijuana paraphernalia, and approximately one thousand clear plastic baggies.
Damian Santibanez was then issued a citation for: Misdemeanor Possession of Marijuana, and Misdemeanor Possession of Marijuana Paraphernalia. He was released from the scene.
Federico Santibanez was arrested, and then transported to the Iredell County Detention Center where he was charged with: Felony Possession with Intent to Sell or Deliver Methamphetamine,
Felony Possession of Methamphetamine, Felony Maintain a Vehicle/ Dwelling or Place for Controlled Substance, Felony Possession with Intent to Sell or Deliver Marijuana, Misdemeanor Possession of Marijuana, Misdemeanor Possession of Marijuana Paraphernalia, and Driving While License Revoked. Magistrate M. Nethken issued a 75,000.00 secured bond for these charges.
