Sheriff Darren Campbell stated: On Monday July 29, 2019 a report of a motor vehicle break in on Brookhaven Road was filed with the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office. Items stolen from the vehicle were valued at more than 500.00 dollars.
The case was forwarded to the Criminal Investigation Division. Det. Sgt. W. Gregory began an investigation into the incident, and received information about some of the stolen property having been located at a local business.
Detective Gregory followed up on the information and was able to recover a generator valued at $100.00. After gathering witness statements, and other evidence, Scotty Eugene Shoemaker, was identified as the suspect.
Warrants were taken out against Scotty Eugene Shoemaker for: One Count of Felony Breaking and/or Entering to a Motor Vehicle, One Count of Misdemeanor Larceny from the Motor Vehicle, and One Count of Felony Obtaining Property by False Pretenses.
On August 12, 2019 Scotty Eugene Shoemaker Sr. was arrested, and taken before Magistrate S. Watkins who issued Shoemaker a 20,000.00 dollars secured bond on these charges.
