Sheriff Darren Campbell stated: On Friday, August 9, 2019 deputies with the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office were called to 182 Pond View Lane in Mooresville for a reported burglary, and breaking and entering of a motor vehicle.
When the deputies arrived at the location, they interviewed the victims. The deputies were told by the victims, they were asleep in a camper, and were awakened to find Christopher Zane Gibby standing inside the camper.
The victims stated Gibby was using the flash light on his cell phone to look around the camper when he was confronted by the owner. After being confronted by the victim, Gibby ran off into some nearby woods. The victims were familiar with Gibby because he lives in the area.
It was further determined, Gibby had entered the owners truck which was parked outside. He had taken the keys out of the vehicle and used them to unlock the camper door.
Deputies made contact with Christopher Gibby by phone, however he refused to come back to the scene. Deputy Hodge then obtained warrants for Felony First Degree Burglary, and Felony Breaking and Entering of a Motor Vehicle.
On Sunday, August 11, 2019 Christopher Zane Gibby was taken into custody at his home on Pond View Lane address without incident. Gibby was then transported to the Iredell County Detention Center where he was served with the arrest warrants. He was then taken before Magistrate R.
