[ARCHIVED] Statesville man charged in home invasion.

Sheriff Darren Campbell said: On Sunday, July 14, 2019 at approximately 2:00 am a 911 call was received from 137 Rosie Apply Lane, Statesville in reference to a home invasion.

When Deputies arrived they provided aid to a total of five victims, secured the scene, and searched the surrounding area for possible suspects. One victim was transported to the hospital with a stab wound to the top of his head, and other injuries consistent with being attacked with a weapon.

Detectives, and Crime Scene Investigators arrived on the scene where they began interviewing victims to gather details, and collecting evidence.

The victims stated sometime after midnight 4 to 5 masked people forced their way into the home. The victims said suspect had guns, and ordered the victims to give them money, and drugs. The victims were then tied up by the suspects.

The home owner described being beaten with brass knuckles, and being stabbed in the head. His injuries although severe are not life threatening.

According to the home owner during the initial struggle the mask covering one of the suspect’s faces came down, and he saw Donald Blevins, a man he personally knows.

According to the victims after tying up, the suspects searched the house, and took multiple items.

The suspects then left the victims tied up after leaving the home. One of the victims was able to finally get free, and called 911.

Detectives after gathering information began to search for the suspect. At around 10:00 am this morning, Donald Arthur Blevins III was located arriving at his fiancee's home. Blevins was taken into custody, and transported to the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office.   

Based on information obtained through additional interviews, Detectives applied for and were granted search warrants for Blevins’s home, along with the vehicle he was known to travel in.

Evidence was located, and collected at both locations which was consistent with statements made by the victims.

Donald Arthur Blevins III, was arrested and charged with: Felony First Degree Burglary, Felony Assault with Deadly Weapon with Intent to Kill Inflicting Serious Injury, Felony First Degree Kidnapping, Felony Second Degree Kidnapping, and Felony Larceny. Blevins was taken before Magistrate R. Imes who issued a 500,000.00 dollars secured bond on these charges.

This investigation is still on going and additional arrests are expected in this case.

IV Controlled Substance.
