[ARCHIVED] "Most Wanted" subject caught riding a stolen four-wheeler.

Sheriff Darren Campbell stated: One of the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office’s “Most Wanted Persons” was arrested on Friday, June 7, 2019.  Joshua Rick Bass is suspect in at least five cases where All Terrain Vehicles (ATV’s) have been stolen from the Eastern side of Iredell County.

Bass already had multiple outstanding Felony Arrest Warrants for Larceny of a Firearm, and Possession of Counterfeit Instruments.

Deputies with the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office, Aggressive Criminal Enforcement (ACE) Team were in the area of Duck Creek Road, on Friday evening attempting to locate Joshua Rick Bass. The deputies spotted Joshua Bass riding a four wheeler on Skyuka Road heading towards Moose Club Road.

The deputies attempted to stop Bass, however, he avoided them by driving the four-wheeler off-road, and onto trails in the woods. After perusing Bass through the trails, the deputies caught him and took Bass into custody without further incident. After stopping Bass, the deputies checked the VIN Number on the four-wheeler, and learned it had been reported stolen on June 5, 2019.

Detectives arrived on scene to assist with the investigation. As a result of the investigation, Joshua Rick Bass was charged with: Four Counts of Felony Larceny of a Motor Vehicle, and Felony Breaking and Entering. Bass was also served with the numerous outstanding warrants for Possession of Counterfeit Instrument for which he has been entered as a Wanted Person by the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office.

Bass was taken before Magistrate P. Tutterow who issued an 83,000.00 dollar secured bond on these charges.

On Saturday, June 8, 2019, deputies went to the Iredell County Detention Center to serve Bass with an additional warrant for, Felony Flee to Elude stemming from the events of the evening before.

While serving this warrant, Bass became belligerent in the Magistrate’s Office, and began resisting, screaming and refusing to comply with deputy’s commands. Magistrate R. Imes found probable cause for a charge of Misdemeanor Resist, Obstruct and Delay. Bass received an extra 50,000.00 dollars secured bond for these new charges.

 Criminal history: Misdemeanor Harassing Telephone Calls, Two Count of Misdemeanor Larceny, Misdemeanor Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Misdemeanor Possession of Marijuana, Felony Larceny, Felony Possession of Schedule I Controlled Substance, Felony Larceny After Breaking and Entering, Felony Possession of Heroin, and Felony Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon.
