[ARCHIVED] Statesville woman charged with assaulting handicapped victims.

Sheriff Darren Campbell stated: On Thursday, April 4, 2019 a report was filed with the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office in reference to, three disabled clients at a residential group having been assaulted by an employee.

The incident report was assigned to Detective Sergeant K. Harwell of the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office Special Victims Unit. Sergeant Harwell worked closely with Iredell County Child Protective Services throughout this investigation. Faculty of the group home were cooperative with Harwell throughout the investigation and numerous interviews were conducted.

Evidence in this case was gathered and showed Brionna Sherrill was identified as the suspect, and she had assaulted three victims. The victims who are all mentally, and physically disabled are 20 years old, a 16 years old, and 12 years old.

Based on interviews, and evidence Det. Sgt. Harwell was able to obtain arrest warrants for Brionna Janee Sherrill on seven counts of Misdemeanor Assault on an Individual with Disabilities. Sherrill was arrested on Friday, May 3, 2019 and issued a 2,500.00 dollars secured bond by Magistrate P. Tutterrow.
