[ARCHIVED] Statesville man charged after he is found in possession of a stolen gun

Sheriff Darren Campbell stated: On Sunday, April 28, 2019 at 11:17 pm, Deputies with the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office received a call in reference to a larceny of a firearm at 543 Cool Springs Road.

Upon arrival Deputies N.G. Hodges, and J. Graves spoke with the victim who told them someone had broken into a vehicle, and took a firearm and approximately 120.00 dollars from the vehicle.

Deputies gathered information about a possible suspect while on scene along with information of a possible witness. The Deputies then located and spoke with the witness. They learned the suspect, Gilberto Vasquez Flores, was seen by the witness in possession of the firearm as he was giving him a ride home.

Deputy Hodges, Deputy Graves and Deputy L. Hayes then went to 111 Eastgate Drive where they located Flores along with the firearm which was still in his possession. Flores was taken into custody without incident. He was taken to the Iredell County Detention Center where he was charged with: Felony Breaking and Entering a Motor Vehicle, and Felony Larceny of a Firearm.

Magistrate S. Nicholson issued an 8,000.00 dollar secured bond for Flores on these charges.

 Criminal history: Misdemeanor Assault Inflicting Serious Injury, Misdemeanor Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
