Sheriff Darren Campbell stated: On Monday April 1, 2019 deputies with the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office Interstate Criminal Enforcement (ICE) Team conducted a traffic stop on a Dodge passenger vehicle for traffic violations on Interstate 77 North at the 60 Mile Marker.
Deputies then made contact with the occupants of the vehicle to include passenger, Lisa Edwards, a resident of West Virginia, who told them she was traveling from Charlotte back to West Virginia.
After further investigation stemming from suspicious behavior, deputies conducted a search of Edwards’s vehicle. As a result of the search deputies were able to locate, and seize several unlabeled plastic bottles containing Methadone in both powder and liquid forms as well as drug paraphernalia which belonged to Edwards.
Lisa Renee Edwards was arrested on scene, and transported to the Iredell County Detention Center where she was charged with; Felony Trafficking in Opium or Heroin by Transportation, Felony Trafficking in Opium or Heroin by Possession, Felony Possession with the Intent to Sell/Deliver a Schedule II Controlled Substance, and Misdemeanor Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Magistrate T. Thompson issued a 350,000.00 dollars secured bond on these charges.
