[ARCHIVED] Convicted felon charged with multiple felony crimes.

Sheriff Darren Campbell stated: On Monday, November 26, 2018, detectives with the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office began investigating a breaking and entering. The victim reported numerous items to include a backpack leaf blower, chainsaw, weed eater, power tools, and two firearms had been stolen.

Rodney Allen Grant II, a former employee of the victim, was identified quickly as a suspect.  During this investigation, a Search Warrant was served at Grant’s residence by Iredell County Sheriff’s Office for a separate investigation which lead to the recovery of the stolen backpack leaf blower and weed eater.

As a result of the investigation, warrants were obtained for Grant on the charges of Felony Breaking and Entering a Building, Felony Larceny After Breaking and Entering, Felony Breaking and Entering a Motor Vehicle, Felony Larceny of a Firearm, Felony Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon and Misdemeanor Larceny.         

Deputies located and arrested Grant on Friday, February 1, 2019. He was taken into custody at his residence without incident and was taken to the Iredell County Detention Center where the arrest warrants were served on him. Magistrate P. Tutterow issued Grant a 50,000.00 dollar secured bond for these charges.

Criminal History: Felony Assault by Strangulation, Felony Possession of Methamphetamine, Misdemeanor Carrying a Concealed Weapon, Misdemeanor Possession of up to ½ Ounce of Marijuana, Misdemeanor Assault, Two Counts of Misdemeanor Assault on a Governmental Official. Grant is currently on Active Supervised Probation

Grant also has several pending charges in Iredell and Davie County including: Felony Possession of Stolen Goods/Property, Felony Possession of Firearm by Felon, Felony Breaking and Entering, Felony Larceny After Breaking and Entering, Misdemeanor Larceny, Felony Larceny of a Firearm, Misdemeanor Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Felony Possession of Methamphetamine, Felony Maintaining a Dwelling Place for Controlled Substance, Misdemeanor Possession of Marijuana Paraphernalia, Misdemeanor Resisting Public Officer, Misdemeanor Possession of Marijuana Up to ½ Ounce, Misdemeanor Possession of Schedule VI Controlled Substance, Driving While License Revoked, Fail to Wear Seatbelt, Fail to Stop for Stop Sign/Red Light, Fictitious/Altered Title/Registration Card/Tag, Speeding, and Expired/No Inspection.
