[ARCHIVED] Mooresville man arrested for harboring a fugitive.

Sheriff Darren Campbell stated: On Friday, January 25, 2019 Iredell County Sheriff’s Office deputies received information about Stephen Styron being at 351 Rinehardt Road in Mooresville.  Styron had several outstanding arrest warrants from Iredell, Rowan, and Mecklenburg Counties.

Deputies responded to the address where they made contact with the resident, Brian Richard Harwell. Deputies asked about Styron, however Harwell advised the deputies he was not at the residence.

Deputies requested to check the residence for Styron. Harwell told them he needed to check with another occupant in the residence first. After several minutes, Harwell came back to the door and allowed the deputies inside. Once inside the home, deputies located Styron hiding in a bedroom closet. They took him into custody without incident. Styron was taken to the Iredell County Detention Center. He was taken before Magistrate T. Thompson. No bond was issued on the Probation Violation Warrant. Styron was issued a 686,500.00 dollars secured bond on the remaining charges.

Brian Harwell was also arrested at the scene for Felony Obstruction of Justice, Misdemeanor Harboring a Fugitive, and Misdemeanor Resisting a Public Officer. Harwell was taken before Magistrate T. Thompson who issued Harwell a 50,000.00 dollar secured bond on these charges.  Harwell has a pending charge for Possession with Intent to Sell or Deliver Methamphetamine.
