Sheriff Darren Campbell stated:
Deputies with the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office Interstate Criminal Enforcement (ICE) Team were conducting drug interdiction activities on Interstate 77 North when they noticed a vehicle traveling North Bound being operated with a motor vehicle violation.
A traffic stop was conducted and during the stop and subsequent conservation with the driver, the strong smell of marijuana was noticed coming from the vehicle. A K-9 was called the scene and a search was conducted. The K-9 indicated on the vehicle for the presence of narcotics.
A hand search of the vehicle was conducted by deputies and 2.5 pounds of high grade marijuana was located along with 1100.00 dollars in US Currency and other drug paraphernalia were located.
The driver, Kendrick Lydall Carter of White Sulpher Springs West Virginia was arrested and taken to the Iredell County Detention Center. Carter was charged with one felony count of possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana and one count of possession of drug paraphernalia. He was placed under 5000.00 dollars secured bond.
