[ARCHIVED] Charlotte man arrested near Mooresville with drugs and a pistol

Sheriff Darren Campbell stated: Saturday August 4, 2018 at approximately 9:00 pm, Sergeant W. Line of the Aggressive Criminal Enforcement (ACE) Team conducted a traffic stop on a Nissan for a traffic violation.  

                                                                                                                             

During the course of the traffic stop Sgt. Line spoke with the driver, Jennifer Hicks, and advised her of the violation. Sergeant L. Hayes arrived and conducted an open air sniff of the vehicle with his canine partner “Danny” around the exterior of Hick’s vehicle.  During the walk around “Danny” indicated for the odor of narcotics inside the vehicle.  


A search of the vehicle was then conducted.  During the search a 9 mm handgun with an altered serial number, and 25 grams of methamphetamine were located under the front passenger seat where Jimmy Hicks, the sole passenger had been sitting.  


Numerous clear plastic bags were also located in the vehicle which are consistent with the sale of narcotics.  After verifying Jimmy Jermaine Hicks information, the deputies also learned he is a convicted felon.


Hicks was then placed under arrest for Felony Possession of Methamphetamine, Felony Possession with Intent to Sell and Deliver Methamphetamine, Felony Possession of a Firearm by Convicted Felon, Felony Alter/Remove Gun Serial Number, and Misdemeanor Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. He was transported to the Iredell County Detention center where he was issued a 50,000.00 dollar secured bond from Magistrate T. Thompson.

    Criminal History: Misdemeanor Disorderly Conduct, 2 Counts of Misdemeanor Possession  

    of Marijuana, 2 Counts of Misdemeanor Second Degree Trespass, DWI Level 5, DWI Level 2,

    2 Counts of Misdemeanor Resisting a Public Officer, DWI Level 1 Aggravated, Misdemeanor

    Larceny, Felony Larceny of a Motor Vehicle, Misdemeanor Disorderly Conduct, Felony
