Sheriff Darren Campbell stated: On Wednesday February 28, 2018, a report was filed with the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office in reference to a female juvenile being sexually assaulted.  The investigation was assigned to Detective Sergeant Katie Harwell of the Special Victim’s Unit for further investigation.

The victim, who is now 12 years old, stated she had been sexually assaulted by a man she knows as Rosendo Barriga Guadalupe. The victim said Guadalupe sexually assaulted her on multiple occasions, between November 2016 and December 2017.

After multiple interviews were gathered from witnesses and family members, Sergeant Harwell was able to obtain twelve Felony Arrest Warrants for Guadalupe for Indecent Liberties with a Child.

Rosendo Barriga Guadalupe was arrested on Friday June 22, 2018 and taken to the Iredell County Detention Center where the warrant served. Magistrate P. Tutterrow placed the suspect under a 300,000.00 dollars secured bond.
