[ARCHIVED] Mooresville man arrested for burglary and other crimes

Sheriff Darren Campbell stated: On Tuesday June 5, 2018 a burglary was reported at 209 Waitsfield Court in Mooresville. Iredell County Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to the location.  During the initial investigation it was determined, in addition to the burglary to the home, two vehicles at the residence were broken into and a third vehicle was stolen.

Deputy J. Scott located the stolen vehicle parked in a parking lot across the cove from the victim’s residence. Deputy Scott also located some of the stolen property which had been discarded in Lake Norman directly behind where the stolen vehicle was abandoned. The home and vehicle were processed for evidence by Crime Scene Investigators

The case was assigned to Detective Daniel Stikeleather of the Criminal Investigations Division. As the investigation continued, a neighbor discovered through reviewing their home security cameras, the suspect, also entered their boat and stole an alcoholic beverage from their outside refrigerator.

Crime Scene Investigators were able to locate a fingerprint on some of the recovered stolen property and quickly ruled out the fingerprint belonging to the victims.  A hit on the fingerprint through the Automated Fingerprint Identification System (AFIS) confirmed the identity of the suspect, Noah Elijah Courtney of 160 Milford Circle.

Detective Stikeleather presented the facts of the case to a magistrate who issued warrants for one count of felony First Degree Burglary, one count of felony Larceny, one count of felony Larceny of a Motor Vehicle, three count of felony Breaking or Entering of a Motor Vehicle, and two counts of misdemeanor Larceny.

On Friday June 15, 2018, Noah Courtney was notified of the outstanding warrants and he turned himself into the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office. Courtney was taken before Magistrate D. Chambers who issued a $50,000.00 secured bond.

Noah Courtney has been previously charged with Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, possession of marijuana up to half ounce, and traffic violations.
