Sheriff Darren Campbell stated: On Sunday, June 17, 2018, Deputy Caskaddon was checking on a possible broken down vehicle on Interstate 40 East.
When Deputy Caskaddon arrived he saw a female vomiting out of the passenger side of the vehicle. After parking his patrol vehicle he went up to see if she needed medical help and noticed an odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle.
After speaking to the driver, Demetrish Thompson and noticing the odor, a search of the vehicle revealed 5.2 grams of Ecstasy in a crushed and pill form. Thompson was arrested and taken to the Iredell County Detention Center where he was charged with Felony Possession of Ecstasy with the Intent to Sell and/or Deliver and Misdemeanor Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
Thompson was placed in the Iredell County Detention Center under an 8,000.00 dollars secured bond issued by Magistrate S. Nicholson. Demetrish Thompson is currently on federal probation for other major charges and Thompson’s federal probation officer was contacted and additional charges are anticipated.
