Sheriff Darren Campbell stated: On Thursday May 3, 2018, the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office Sex Offender Verification Unit received information about a currently registered sex offender, Tristan Wayne Murray having moved from 344 South Main Street in Mooresville.
The investigation was assigned to Deputy J. Adams. Deputy Adams gathered information which led him to speak with witnesses and employees at the Relax Inn in Mooresville. Based on these conservations and statements it was proven Murray had moved from his registering address.
Under North Carolina state law, a registered sex offender has three business days to come to the sheriff office and register a new address, in this matter Murray failed to do so.
Tristan Wayne Murray was charged and arrested on Thursday May 10, 2018 and was taken to the Iredell County Detention Center where he was issued a 20,000.00 dollar secure bond by Magistrate D. Chambers.
Tristan Murray was convicted of Indecent Liberties with a Child on November 11, 2004, he placed on the Sex Offender Registry on February 3, 2005.

Criminal History: Misdemeanor Disorderly Conduct, Two Counts of Misdemeanor Assault on a Female, Felony Possession of Schedule II Controlled Substance, Felony Indecent Liberties with a Child, Felony Failure to Register as a Sex Offender, and Misdemeanor Simple Assault.
