Sheriff Darren Campbell stated: On Saturday April 28, 2018 deputies with the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office responded to 164 Timberland Loop in Mooresville in reference to a domestic dispute.
Deputies arrived on scene and made contact with female in the front yard. She told the deputies Nolan Thomas, was drunk in the house with both of their young children possibly armed with a firearm.
Deputies attempted to make contact with Thomas, however he refused to come out of the residence. Nolan Thomas finally came out of the residence with a small child in his arms and pointed a gun at the responding deputies then pointed the gun at the child he was holding and went back into the residence. Deputies were then able to speak with Thomas through a loud speaker and convince him to come out of the residence alone an unarmed.
When Nolan Thomas came out of the residence, deputies were able to quickly apprehend Thomas and take him in to custody. Nolan Thomas was then transported to the Iredell County Detention Center where he was charged with the following; Felony Assault on a Law Enforcement Officer by Pointing a Gun, Misdemeanor Assault by Pointing a Gun, Misdemeanor Resisting a Public Officer, and Misdemeanor Interfering with Emergency Communications.
Magistrate D. Chambers gave Nolan Alexander Thomas a $100,000.00 dollars secured bond.
Criminal History: Driving after consuming while under 21, Misdemeanor Intoxicated and Disruptive, Misdemeanor Disorderly Conduct, DWI Level 4, Misdemeanor Resisting a Public Officer.
