Sheriff Darren Campbell stated: On Tuesday March 20, 2018 a report was filed with the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office in reference to a possible sexual assault involving a 10 year old female victim.  The victim said the abuse happened on Thursday March 15, 2018 at her home.

The case was assigned to Detective Sergeant Katie Harwell of the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office Special Victims Unit for further investigation. During the course of the investigation the victim was interviewed at the Dove House Children’s Advocacy Center. The victim identified Daniel Lopez Ruiz, as the suspect in the case.

Based on the investigation, and evidence gathered, investigators were able to obtain a felony arrest warrant for Daniel Lopez Ruiz for Felony Indecent Liberties with a child. 

Daniel Ruiz was arrested on Thursday March 22, 2018. He was taken to the Iredell County Detention Center where he was charged with one count of Felony Indecent Liberties with a Child. Magistrate D. Saunders issued

Ruiz received a 250,000.00 dollars secured bond.

Ruiz resides in Mexico, he came to Iredell County on March 12, 2018.
