[ARCHIVED] Business break in suspect arrested.

Sheriff Darren E. Campbell stated:  On Saturday December 16, 2017 at approximately 12:30 am, deputies with the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to 119 Campground Road in Eastern Iredell County in reference to a burglar alarm activation at the business.

When deputies arrived on scene, they discovered the front door to the business had been broken and entry to the store had been made. The owner of the business arrived and walked through the crime scene with the deputies. The cash register and numerous cigarettes had been stolen. Crime Scene Investigators and Criminal Investigations Detectives arrived and processed the crime scene for evidence. After reviewing the video surveillance footage, a white male in a red two door Pontiac Grand Am was identified as the suspect. A broadcast to be on the lookout for the suspect and vehicle was sent out to all law enforcement agencies in the surrounding area.

Through further investigation of this incident, and information gathering by sheriff’s office detectives, they learned there were similar incidents in the City of Mooresville during the same time frame. On Tuesday December 19, 2017, the suspect and suspect vehicle were located in the Troutman area. A traffic stop was conducted and it was determined the suspect James William Edwards, had an outstanding Fugitive Warrant in South Carolina. Detectives were able to positively identify Edwards as the suspect in the December 16th breaking and entering.

James William Edwards, was taken to the Iredell County Detention Center and charged with Felony Breaking and Entering, Felony Larceny after Breaking and Entering and Injury to Real Property. He was placed under 410,000.00 dollars secured bond. Edwards also faces several additional charges from Rowan, Davidson, Forsyth and Randolph counties.
