[ARCHIVED] Suspect charged with Filing a False Police Report

Ronald Wayne Karriker

Sheriff Darren Campbell stated on November 03, 2017 the suspect filed a report of a larceny to the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office.  In the original report Mr. Karriker accused another person of stealing several firearms from his residence while he was sleeping on the couch.

During the investigation, Detectives learned that Mr. Karriker had given several different accounts to what had happened to the firearms.  During the investigation it was also learned that one gun that was actually reported stolen was actually sold by Mr. Karriker to another person.  During the investigation, Mr. Karriker gave several conflicting statements of how the guns were stolen and accused the same person as stealing them.  Also during the investigation, Mr. Karriker sent text messages to the person he accused stating that he set her up due to her moving out with another individual.

After learning of the gun being sold by the victim, instead of it being stolen and also reviewing the text messages it was determined that the Karriker filed a false report accusing another person.

A warrant was issued for Ronald Wayne Karriker for filing a false police report.  On December 5th, 2017 the suspect was arrested and was given a $2500.00 secured bond.  Karriker has a pending court date in Statesville District Court.
