Sheriff Darren E. Campbell stated: A two month undercover narcotics investigation into the sale of heroin and cocaine in the Opal Street area of South Statesville was concluded in the early morning hours of Friday November 3, 2017, when a search warrant was served at 913 Marshall Street by members of the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Investigation Unit along with members of the SERT Team.
An initial search of the residence located the suspect, Randell Damar Myricks Jr., and a female who did not live at the residence. Once the two individuals were secured, a thorough search of the house located over five ounces of cocaine, 16 grams of heroin, 5.1 grams of Ecstasy pills, a loaded Taurus 9mm semiautomatic pistol and 981.00 dollars in US Currency.
Myricks was transported to the Iredell County Sheriff’s Detention Center where he was served with the following Felony Chagres: Trafficking in Cocaine, Trafficking in Heroin, Possession with Intent to Sell and Deliver Schedule II Controlled Substance (Cocaine), Possession with Intent to Sell and Deliver Schedule I Controlled Substance (Heroin) and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon. Myricks was placed under a 450,000.00 dollars secured bond.
Sheriff Campbell said, “These are just the type of offenders we want to have in our jail. Repeat offenders who are out moving large quantities of drugs in our neighborhoods are our focus. We will continue to work on just this type of community impact case.” The investigation into the sale of controlled substances in this area is ongoing.
