Sheriff Darren Campbell stated On September 8, 2017, the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office received an incident report of financial card theft and identity theft. Detective Sgt. D. R. Getz with the Economic Crime Unit was assigned the case.
According to the incident report the victims had hired a nanny to help with the children while they worked. The victims’ reported that after the nanny’s first day of working they noticed that a credit card was missing. After checking their account online they noticed a fraudulent transaction that had occurred that day.
During the investigation, legal process to the business where the stolen credit was used showed the fraudulent transaction was placed under the name of and shipped to the suspect, Ashleigh Chantel Caldwell, 19 years of age, from Mooresville.
Detectives obtained warrants for arrest on Ashleigh Caldwell for one count of financial card theft and one count of identity theft. Mrs. Caldwell was arrested on October 20, 2017 and received a $2,500.00 secured bond and placed in the Iredell County Detention Center.
