[ARCHIVED] Suspect arrested for Indecent Liberties with a Child

 Sheriff Darren E. Campbell stated the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office received a report concerning the possible sexual abuse of a 10 year old child by an adult male family member.  The child stated that John David Wasse, 51 years of age, of Governor's Landing Circle, Murrells Inlet, South Carolina, had inappropriate sexual conduct with her between August and November 2016. The incidents occured when Wasse lived in Iredell COunty.  The report was assigned to the Special Victims Unit for further investigation.  During the investigation, the child disclosed that the sexual abuse not only occured in Iredell County, but also in Charlotte, North Carolina and Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.  A report was also made with those law enforcement agencies concerning the allegations.  Detective Jason Lowrance obtained a warrant for John David Wasse for one count of Felony Indecent Liberties with Child.  Wasse was arrested on these charges on September 22, 2017 by the Brunswick County Sheriff's Office.  Wasse was given a $25,000.00 secured bond with a court date of September 26, 2017.  Wasse has also been charged and arrested for the allegations against him in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. He is currently out on bond on the charges in Myrtle Beach.  Wasse has a prior conviction of violation of a Domestic Violence Protective Order.
