Sheriff Darren Campbell stated: On September 19, 2017 The Iredell County Sheriff’s Office received information from Probation that a Registered Sex Offender’s ankle monitor had been pinged on the property of a school. The information was turned over to Deputy John Adams to start an investigation. Deputy Adams reviewed the documented information from probation and noticed that Roderick Miller had been on two different school properties in the Mooresville area. After further investigation and talking to witnesses Deputy Adams was able to determine that Roderick Wayne Miller had indeed come onto the school’s property.
Roderick Wayne Miller was arrested on September 20, 2017 and was charged with two counts of Sex Offender on child premises. He was placed in the Iredell County Jail under a 20,000 dollar secured bond.
Prior Conviction include: Simple Possession of Schedule VI, Possession of Marijuana less than ½ oz. to 1 1/2oz., Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Possession with Intent to Sell and Deliver Cocaine (two counts), Second Degree Trespass, No Operators License, Public Disturbance, Possession of Stolen Goods/Property.
Miller was placed on the Sex Offender Registry for a 2006 conviction of two counts of Indecent Liberties with a Child in Iredell County and was listed as an Aggravated/Recidivist for a 2010 conviction of Attempted Second Degree Rape in Mecklenburg County.
