Sheriff Darren Campbell stated On August 19th 2017, around 11:29 pm Deputies responded to a breaking and entering to a residence on Greenbay Road, Mooresville. When Deputies arrived, the victim stated that someone and broke into the house by prying a door open in the master bedroom. The victim stated that they were asleep on the couch inside the residence when they heard a disturbance in the bedroom and contacted 911 due to knowing no one else should be in the residence. When Deputies searched the residence, they saw that the master bedroom, bathroom, and closet and been ransacked and several thousand dollars’ worth of jewelry and designer handbags had been stolen with an estimated total of around $18,000. Cash was also located on the ground outside of the residence near a back gate that was open when it should have been closed. Detective Patrick Irwin with the criminal investigations division was assigned the case and spoke with the victims. The victims told Detective Irwin that they believed that the suspect was a family member by the name of Dominic Brandon Pistone and believes that his girlfriend, a Devon Hartwell Ward, could have been involved as well. Detective Irwin was able to get camera footage from a residence on Greenbay Road that showed a white in color Dodge SUV drive back and forth on the road and the victim was able to identify the vehicle as Devon Hartwell Ward’s vehicle. More camera footage was obtained from nearby gas stations that give clear images of the vehicle. It was also discovered that Dominic Pistone pawned a gold in color men’s necklace in Gastonia that the victim confirmed was stolen from the house the same night. Detective Irwin received information that both Dominic and Devon were staying at a house in Clover South Carolina. With the help of the York County Sheriff’s Office, the subjects were located in the house in Clover and a consent search was conducted that lead to the discovery of 18 grams of methamphetamine in the bedroom where Devon and Dominic were sleeping. The vehicle was also located in the back yard of the residence and photos were taken and was identified as the same vehicle in the video footage. Warrants were obtained for Dominic Brandon Pistone and Devon Hartwell Ward for first degree burglary and felony larceny, full extradition was also granted on the warrants. Dominic Pistone already had a misdemeanor warrant for his arrest for failure to appear which was served on him as well and he was extradited back to North Carolina. Devon Hartwell Ward was charged by York County Sheriff’s Office for the methamphetamine that was located inside her bedroom and is currently awaiting extradition back to North Carolina. Dominic Brandon Pistone has been charged in the past for possession of marijuana and was also found guilty in 2008 for assault by pointing a gun. Devon Hartwell Ward has had been charged with several narcotics charges in York County South Carolina. Devon Ward has also been charged with felony breaking and entering in Lincoln County North Carolina.
