[ARCHIVED] Suspect arrested on felony drug charges and assault inflicting serious injury

Sheriff Darren E. Campbell stated:  A two month undercover investigation into the sale of marijuana and prescription pills in the east side of the City of Statesville was concluded on Friday September 8, 2017 with the arrest of Riley Scott Arters.

In late July, narcotics investigators received information about a white male selling marijuana and prescription medications in the Signal Hill Road, East Broad Street area of Statesville.  Undercover surveillance operations were established and soon Riley Arters was identified as a suspect.

Soon hand to hand purchases of marijuana and prescription medications were made by investigators from Arters.

While this drug related investigation was ongoing, narcotics investigators were asked to assist identify a suspect in a serious assault which occurred on Third Creek Road on September 2, 2017 in which 40-50 people were present at a party.  From video of the altercation, Arters was identified as the suspect in the fight.

As a result of these investigations, Riley Scott Arters was charged with the following crimes: Felony Possession with Intent to Sell and Deliver Schedule VI Controlled Substance (Marijuana), Conspire to Sell Schedule VI Controlled Substance (Marijuana), Felony Sell and Deliver Schedule VI Controlled Substance (Marijuana), Felony Maintain a Vehicle/Dwelling or Place to Sell Controlled Substance, Felony Possession with Intent to Sell and Deliver Schedule IV Controlled Substance (Xanax), Felony Sell and Deliver Schedule IV Controlled Substance (Xanax), Felony Conspiracy to Sell Schedule IV Controlled Substance and Felony Assault Inflicting Serious Injury.

Riley Scott Arters was taken to the Iredell County Detention Center and was placed under 120,000.00 dollars secured bond.
