Sheriff Darren E. Campbell stated: On Wednesday September 6, 2017, Narcotics Investigators with the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant at 149 Travis Loop Road in Statesville.
Information for the search warrant was gathered as part of ongoing investigations into packages containing illegal narcotics being delivered to locations in Iredell County from other states and countries. This search warrant uncovered numerous containers used to ship marijuana, marijuana and marijuana edibles along other paraphernalia.
This investigation was opened approximately two months ago when over 20 pounds of marijuana was seized by narcotics investigators. The box was intercepted while in transit to be delivered to a residence here in Iredell County. Narcotics investigators worked with other law enforcement agencies to share and gather further intelligence on Smith and other suspects.
Surveillance operations were established on different residences and suspects here in Iredell and other counties. As a result of this still ongoing investigation, David Allen Smith was charged with Felony Trafficking of Marijuana by Possession, Felony Conspiracy to Traffic Marijuana by Possession, Transport and Delivery. He was placed under 15,000.00 dollars secured bond.
Felony Warrants are outstanding on Ailon See of Catawba County for Conspiracy to Traffic Marijuana by Possession, Transport and Delivery.
The investigation is ongoing and more arrests are anticipated.
