[ARCHIVED] Suspect arrested for weapon and drug charges

Sheriff Darren Campbell stated that on 6-26-17 Lt. C.L. Stone of the Aggressive Criminal Enforcement Team conducted a traffic stop on a 1999 model Dodge on Salisbury Hwy. after discovering that the driver, Christopher W. Darby, 38, of Salisbury was operating the vehicle without a valid driver’s license.  While issuing Darby a citation, Stone discovered that he is a convicted felon and has a prior history of illegal drug possession.  After questioning Darby briefly a search of his vehicle was conducted.  During the search a modified shotgun with an 8 ½ inch barrel was located under the driver’s seat.  A small amount of Crystal Methamphetamine was also located along with a pipe used for smoking methamphetamine.  Darby was then placed under arrest and transported to the Iredell County Detention Center where he was charged with Possession of Firearm by convicted Felon, Possession of an Altered Firearm, Possession of a Weapon of Mass Destruction, Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession Drug Paraphernalia, and Driving While License Revoked.  Darby received a $25,000 secured bond.

 Darby has a past conviction of possession of stolen property.
