[ARCHIVED] Suspect Faces Additional Charges in Sex Offense Case

Sheriff Darren Campbell stated additional charges have been filed against Michael Shane Amoedo, age 19, of 102 Kammerer Dr., Statesville.  On May 30, 2017, Amoedo was charged by Detective Sergeant Amy Dyson of the Special Victim’s Unit with two counts of First Degree Rape; Two counts of First Degree Sexual Offense; Two counts of Statutory Sexual Offense with a Child and One count of Statutory Rape of a Child. Amoedo was placed in the Iredell County Detention Center under a $300,000 bond. 

During the investigation, it was also discovered that Amoedo had sexually assaulted another female family member.  Based on the new information an investigation was conducted.  This investigation culminated in Amoedo being charged with one count of Indecent Liberties with a child.  Amoedo was still in custody on the first charges when the new warrant was served. He was given an additional $15,000 on the new charges, and he remains in the Iredell County Detention Center under a total bond of $315,000.  Both investigations involved female family members under the age of 15.
