Sheriff Darren Campbell said: on June 3rd, 2017 Deputies responded to the area of Brook Glen Drive, Mooresville NC after a report was received of a man being struck by a vehicle. Upon arrival a 32 year man was found in the road way with injuries consistent with being run over by a vehicle. The NC State Highway Patrol responded to assist. During the initial investigation evidence at the scene indicated a vehicle was spinning tires in a grass area and on the roadway near where the victim was hit. In addition a mailbox had been struck.
As the investigation continued Detectives started to process the scene and interview witnesses. It was determined early on that Davidson Hollister was the driver of the vehicle which had reportedly failed to slow down or stop after striking the victim. The suspect was located and Detectives attempted to speak with him about the incident. After the scene was processed and witnesses interviewed, the evidence indicated that the victim was ran over by a truck driven by Davidson Christopher Hollister.
Indications are that the victim, suspect and others were at a party on Brook Glen Drive. Witnesses indicated that later in the evening a conflict occurred between Hollister and the victim. The conflict is believed to be over a female that both the men knew who was also present at the party. Moments before the incident a witness observed Hollister while in his truck exchange words with the victim who was on foot.
Witnesses stated that Hollister drove backwards into the grass, then forward onto the roadway apparently spinning tires in both directions. Evidence indicates that Hollister then ran over the victim who was in the roadway and fled the scene. He was located later and once the initial evidence was gathered he was taken into custody. Once in custody Detectives obtained a search warrant to collect blood evidence from the suspect.
Hollister was charged with 2nd Degree Murder and Felony hit and run. He was taken before the Magistrate and given a million dollar secured bond. He was placed in the Iredell County Detention Center pending his first appearance. The investigation is ongoing and additional charges are expected in this case.
