[ARCHIVED] Assault by Strangulation

Sheriff Darren Campbell stated On June 13th 2015 Sheriff Darren Campbell states that Deputy D.C Neill and Deputy William Goforth were dispatched by communications to investigate a domestic dispute at 133 Elmwood Rd. Statesville N.C. 28625. When Deputy D.C Neill arrived on scene he spoke with a Ms. Rebekah Lynn Brewster.
Ms. Brewster advised that her boyfriend’s father a Mr. Tommy Wilson Wiley had become 8:00 am angry and choked her with both hands while she was lying in bed that morning. Ms. Brewster had visible marks around her neck from where she was choked. Ms. Brewster stated that while she was being choked she was unable to breathe.
Deputy D.C Neill then spoke with a Mrs. Edith Marlene Wiley, who was a witness to the assault. Mrs. Wiley stated when she heard the dispute taking place she walked into the bedroom and saw Mr. Wiley on top of Ms. Brewster.
Deputy D.C Neill collected written statements from both Ms. Brewster and Ms. Wiley.

Deputy D.C Neill and Deputy William Goforth then placed Mr. Tommy Wilson Wiley under arrest for assault by strangulation.
Mr. Wiley was taken to the Iredell County Detention Center where he was given a $2500 bond for Assault by strangulation.
