Sheriff Darren Campbell stated on February 15, 2017 a report was filed with the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office in reference to child pornography. The report was assigned to Detective Patrick Dixson of the Special Victim’s Unit. The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children sent a cyber-tip which stated that Jeremy Wayne Miller, 34, had several files of what was believed to be child pornography saved in an account.
Detectives reviewed the files provided by NCMEC and verified that the files were, in fact, child pornography. A search warrant of Mr. Miller’s Dropbox account yielded 135 GB of data. Detectives reviewed that data to find hundreds of files of child pornography. Iredell Sheriff Detectives, the NC SBI Computer Crimes Unit, and Homeland Security then searched the residence of Mr. Miller and gathered further evidence.
Mr. Miller was then taken to the Iredell County Detention Center where he was charged with five counts of 3rd Degree Sexual Exploitation of a Child with more to follow. Mr. Miller was given a $100,000 secured bond.
Mr. Miller has a criminal history including Obtaining Property by False Pretenses, Misdemeanor Larceny, and Probation Violation.
